Louanna Ann Doering, the daughter of Ernest and Clara (Pieschke) Grabau, was born on April 10, 1931 on a farm near Chester, Nebraska.  She passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron at 80 years, 6 months and 30 days of age. She was baptized on April 19, 1931 at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Nebraska by Rev. L. Strasen.  She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church on April 29, 1945 by Rev. E. B. Hilst. Her confirmation verse was Rev. 2:10: Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. She attended Concordia Teachers College in Seward and then taught 9 years at a Lutheran school; one year at Blackburn, MO; Philadelphia one year; and in Leigh, NE 7 years. She was united in marriage to Richard John Doering on August 19, 1962, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Chester, Nebraska.  This union was blessed with two daughters, Kristin and Karla. Louanna was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Deshler. Over her lifetime she was active in many church activities and organizations. She sang in the church choir, was a church greeter, taught Sunday School and attended adult bible class. She was also a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by father, Ernest Grabau, her mother, Clara Grabau, husband, Richard Doering on August 4, 2007, sister-in-law, Amanda Grabau and brother, Herbert Grabau. Louanna is survived by her daughters - Kristin Doering of Byron, NE; and Karla (Anthony) Deepe of Deshler, NE; two granddaughters – Amber and Autumn Deepe; brother - Merton (Irma) Grabau of Owatonna, MN; three sisters-in-law - Norma Doering of Superior, NE., Ingeborg Perlebach of Omaha, NE., and Francis Paustian of Grand Island, NE; many other relatives and friends.
