Willard Leroy Hinds, the son of Roy and Sadie (Fuhrer) Hinds, was born on a farm north of Edgar, Nebraska on November 20, 1928. He was called home to Heaven on February 21, 2012, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 1 day. At the age of 2, he moved to Davenport, graduating from Davenport High School in 1946. Baptized as a young man, he was a faithful Christian and active member and teacher at the Davenport Church of Christ his whole life. He entered military service during the Korean War, taking his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and served with the Army in the U.S. and in Canada. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and began farming with his dad. He traveled often through out the western United States with his parents to visit his sisters and family. A mutual friend introduced Willard to Ann Mahan Thompson and they were united in marriage on June 16, 1967 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He became a loving father to his four new daughters, Beverly, Cathy, Denise and Sandy and the family was blessed with the arrival of their son, Russell, in 1970. Farming defined Willard. He worked the land his whole life, first with his father, then with his wife and his son. Willard was gentle, quiet man who was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His faith in God was the firm foundation of his daily life.Willard was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Delores Hinds and Margaret Milum and his son-in-law, Loren Renz. He is survived by his wife, Ann, of Davenport, children Beverly and husband David Fulbright of San Antonio, Texas; Cathy Renz of Harlan, Iowa; Denise and husband Mike Howard of Edmond, Oklahoma; Sandy and husband Alan Walters of Flower Mound, Texas; and his son, Russell Hinds of Davenport. Condolence Messages

#1 Rich & Jan Turner 2012-02-24 01:33 Sorry to hear of Willard's passing. We always enjoyed worshiping there in Davenport when visiting family in Edgar. Fond memories of visiting with the two of you.
We are also friends with Connie Roundy of CB, but have not heard from her in some time.
May God be with you as you go through this time of grief and loss.

#2 Bill and Peggy Tate 2012-02-24 02:50 Denise and Mike, Our prayers are for your comfort as send your dad on his long awaited final journey home. My dad has been dead for 36 years and I still can hear him singing and laughing. Enjoy the wonderful memories with him as you adjust to being without his physical presence. He is victorious.
Love, Peggy

#4 Roger & DeeAnn Fisher 2012-02-24 15:52 Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Often I think of the many times our families paths have crossed. always enjoyed the pheasent hunting, and then getting to meet Sandy when she roomed with Katherine at York. Christian friends are so neat and what a reward they have in store for them. Some day we will meet again. May God bless you and watch over you. Roger and Deeann. Quote
