Robert Lee "Bob" Hayes passed away Friday, August 23, 2019, in Frankfort, Kansas, lovingly embraced by family. He was born May 4th, 1931 to Albert and Zelma (Disney) Hayes, in Hebron, NE, where he spent the younger years of his life, attending school until joining the Army Air Corps. He enlisted in the Air Force Army Air Corps on December 10, 1947 and served in the military for 4 years. Upon his Honorable Discharge on January 25, 1952, he returned home to Hebron. He married Opal Laura Snyder “Shorty”, Sept. 16, 1953, in Pleasantville, Iowa. Bob’s love for Shorty was enormous. They enjoyed their life and time together. He truly couldn’t wait for the day they could be together again. He worked for Reinke’s Irrigation for many years before starting at Landoll’s Manufacturing in Marysville, KS. Bob retired from Landoll’s in 1991 and shortly after returned back to Reinke’s Irrigation where he continued to work until 2004. Time spent with family and friends was the highlight of Bob’s life. He adored spending time and teaching his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was smart, quick witted with a wonderful sense of humor. He used all of those often, to kid around and joke with just about anyone. He was always the first person there to offer help when anyone needed it. He enjoyed building things, working around the house; golfing and he absolutely loved fishing with Shorty, friends and family.
