Sandra "Sandy" L (Countryman) McLaughlin

October 27, 1953 ~ October 24, 2019 (age 65)

Obituary

Sandra Lou McLaughlin age 65, passed away peacefully October 24, 2019 of complications from her long battle with lung cancer and strokes. She was born October 27th, 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas, Wyandotte County, to Samuel and Martha Countryman. She grew up in Sydney, Nebraska where she graduated high school. Something humorous for Sandy to recall was her first job at A&W, where she delivered food on roller skates. She just knew she was going to fall, creating a hilarious scene at her own expense. Sandy attended the Lincoln School of Commerce and after graduating, was married and brought three handsome sons into the world. Sandy was a modern day woman by balancing a career and raising her children. During the years as secretary for the Director of the Nebraska State Department of Health, is when she met Jim McLaughlin.  It was truly love at first sight, they were married on Valentine’s Day, 1995. The couple settled in Pawnee City, NE. and Sandy was instrumental in managing the couple’s trucking company, M&M Trucking. She really enjoyed every aspect and it was a busy time. In 2009, Hubbell, NE and it’s small quaint community, would be called home for the remainder of Sandy’s life. She loved her role as dispatch for Jim and Sandy’s trucking company, J&S Transport. Sandy’s sweetness and delightful demeanor as a person and as a dispatcher often awarded the trucking company with a bounty of success.  Sandy was kind, loving, dedicated and had a heart of gold. She loved being outdoors, loved gardening and having beautifully arranged flower beds. She loved animals especially her pets, and always showed the kindest heart to those in need of a smile or simple conversation. Sandy was so strong and a warrior these last several years and will be sorely missed by all the lives she has touched. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Martha Countryman, and twin sister Anita Zuger. She is survived by her husband Jim McLaughlin; siblings Jim Countryman, wife Roxanne (Roxy) of Wahoo, NE., Bonnie Hazlett of Plattsmouth, NE.; sons Tobias Orr, wife Stephanie of Lincoln, NE., Tyler Orr of Lincoln, NE and Travis Orr, wife Ashley of Omaha NE.; stepchildren Gregory McLaughlin of Hubbell NE. and Leslie (McLaughlin) McCord, husband Matt of Andover KS.  Sandy is also survived by ten grandchildren.

Funeral services are being held at the Price Funeral Home Chapel in Hebron, NE on Thursday morning, Oct. 31st at 10:30 am, with Pastor Rick Jones officiating, followed by a luncheon at the community hall, downtown Hubbell, NE., for those who want to gather to celebrate Sandy’s life.
