Arvid Hugo Pearson, son of Esther M. (Erickson) and Emil G. Pearson, was born August 11, 1922 near Shickley, Nebraska and passed from this life Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Thayer County Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 7 days. He was baptized in the faith and confirmed at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Ong, Nebraska. Arvid attended country school, District 87 in Fillmore County and graduated from Shickley High School in 1940. Arvid’s father, Emil, died in 1928 when Arvid was six years old, leaving his mother to raise five children under the age of nine. Arvid worked for Vivan Jewell after graduating, and farmed the same land until he retired in 2002 at the age of 80. On March 26, 1944, Arvid married Marilyn Berkey at Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport, Nebraska where they celebrated 73 years together. To this union five children were born: Jean Loree, Randall Ray, Virginia Kay, Judith Diane, and Ronn Sterling. His passions were his family, farming and his livestock. He will be forever remembered by his wife Marilyn of their home, children: Jean & Rod Miller, Dundas, MN, Randy & Pam Pearson, Geneva, NE, Virginia (Jill) & Wayne Biltoft, Judith & Steven Reinke, and Ronn & Carol Pearson all of Davenport, NE; 17 grandchildren: Melissa Nelson, Polly Wilson, Scott Pearson, Reese Pearson, Cassidy Hoffschneider, Carrie Cernin, Cholly Partridge, Ryan Biltoft, Lonnie Biltoft, Scott Biltoft, Jeremy Reinke, Jed Reinke, Jenny Conrad, Josie Bauer, Justin Trapp, Desiree Swafford, and Ethan Pearson; 31 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; his brother Emil Pearson, Hebron, NE and one sister-in-law Raoma Graham, Aurora, CO; other relatives and friends. Arvid was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Knox and Robert Pearson; sister, Iola Sederburg and son-in-law, Rene Molthan. Arvid always enjoyed helping people and was very tenderhearted. He was often moved to tears whether in joy or in sorrow. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was proud of them all. Arvid will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
