Clarence Richard Reinke, age 90, was born May 30, 1924 at Buhl, Idaho to Ernest and Ella (Eden) Reinke. He passed from this life Wednesday just 3 days shy of his 91 st birthday on May 27, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska. Clarence was baptized June 8, 1924 by Pastor W.F. Dannenfelt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clover, Idaho. He confirmed his faith on April 30, 1938 with Pastor Dannenfelt. His memory verse was Psalm 39:5.
On December 12, 1947 he was united in marriage to Leona H. Kirchhoff at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Byron, Nebraska and made their home in Buhl, Idaho. To this union two sons, Howard and Delmar and a daughter Melva were born. In 1949 Clarence, Leona and Howard moved to Nebraska and made their home in rural Byron where he was engaged in farming, and later helped his sons start the dairy. Leona passed away May 26, 1972.
After retiring, Clarence still helped his boys when needed and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and music. He sang in the church choir, Reinke Brothers Chorus and entertained all with his harmonica. He was well known for his witnessing for Christ with his wooden baptismal candleholders and his square nail crosses. He was also proud to be baptismal sponsor for three special young men, Kenneth Reinke, Joel Reinke, and Dan Wegehaupt. He was always active in his church and community serving on council and various boards.
On March 4, 1973 Clarence was united in marriage to Edna M. Brockman at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, Nebraska. He and Edna enjoyed 41 years of marriage living in the Byron area. Edna passed away December 16, 2014.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents; wives Leona and Edna; grandson Jason Carl Reinke; sisters Luella, Lola, Vivian, and Delores; his brother Orval; sister-in-law Maurine Reinke; and brother-in-law Leo Meier. He will be fondly remembered by his children; sons Howard (Marlys), Delmar (Janice), and daughter Melva (Eric) Nondorf; 8 grandchildren, Stuart (Diana) Reinke, Jason (Debi) Reinke, Amber (Troy) Livasy, Ryan (Laci) Reinke, Theresa (Nick) Walker, Katherine (Dan) Thaemert, Amy (Zach) Baer, Ann Levendofske, and several great-grandchildren; sister Rose Meier; brothers-in-law Ervin Meyer and Adolph Wegehaupt; brother and sister-in-law Ervin and Helen Lunzmann; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
