Claribel Fraley Mumm was born to Bessie Marie Fletcher and Lloyd Henry Fraley on Feb 26, 1933 in Beatrice and passed away in Geneva, NE on May 13, 2015 at the age of 82.
As a 3 year old her mother passed away leaving 2 small girls. Aletha and Claribel went to live with their paternal grandparents William and Daisy Fraley in Beatrice until their father remarried. Lloyd married Alta Wolf of Blue Springs, NE in 1937. After this in 1939 the family moved to Chester. Two sisters and 2 brothers were added to the family. Claribel attended Mt. Zion Country School until 5 th grade when the school closed. She then attended and graduated from the Chester Public School.
She was married to Willis P. Mumm on Feb 2, 1956. To this union 3 sons were born. Paul, Todd, and Blake. She felt blessed to raise her 3 sons and work along side her husband on the farm. She was most proud of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids! She loved any opportunity to spend time with family - often around a game of cards. She spent many sleepless nights playing solitaire.
Claribel worked many years at the Blue Valley Nursing Home in Hebron and the Thayer Co. Memorial Hospital. She also had the opportunity to be manager of the Chester Senior Center.
In 1988 she was able to realize a dream in becoming an LPN and had great fun in going to nursing school and graduated in 1989. Claribel then worked as an LPN until her health declined and she was unable to work any longer. Her love was for the elderly, to keep them happy and comfortable gave her great joy.
She had many hobbies and interests. At one time she had over 30 African violets. Claribel also collected coffee mugs amassing more than 100. She loved to read and would spend many hours reading anything she could pick up.
September 1995 she and Willis moved to Geneva. Claribel worked at Fillmore County Hospital and at the Geneva Senior Center.
Claribel was a long time member of the Chester United Methodist Church, the Double X Extension Club, and the Geneva Red Hatters.
She is preceded in death by her Mother Bessie and Father Lloyd, Step-Mother Alta, infant Brother, sister, Aletha Newell Greenfield and brother Duane Fraley.
She is survived by husband of 59 years Willis, sons Paul and Brenda of Geneva, Todd and Cindy of Bertrand, Blake and Rhonda of Hebron. Grandchildren: Brian Mumm (Heather), Ivan Mumm (Andrea), Andrea Rabe (Tyler), Dustin Mumm (Emily), Whitney Mumm, Dillen Mumm, Zachary Mumm, Madison Mumm, Kelby Mumm, Laiken Mumm. Great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Alyvia, Quentin, Reeselyn, Addison, Avery, and Colton. 2 sisters Barbara Ghan husband Jr. of Winfeild KS and Elaine Charbonneau and husband Tyron of Wichita KS and sister in law Lois Fraley of Superor. Many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
