Darryl Frederic Parsons, son of Fred c. and Lucille (Yost) Parsons, was born in San Benito, Texas on October 6, 1929. He passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 26 days. His family moved to Chester, Nebraska where Darryl attended grade school and high school. He attended Fairbury Jr. college and Peru State college obtaining a teaching degree and continued his education at the University of Nebraska (2 masters degress: school administration and education psychology). He was united in marriage to Marita Ann Hagen on May 31, 1953. Three children were born to this union, daughter Kristine, and two sons Timothy and Kim. He and his wife moved to Bruning in the fall of 1953 where he began his teaching career. After five years he and his family moved to Hebron where Darryl was employed by the Hebron public schools for 32 years, retiring in June of 1990. While at Hebron he had several roles, teacher, coach, and counselor. He enjoyed all pahses of teaching, his association with fellow teachers and particularly the students. Darryl was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hebron where he taught Sunday School and was on the church board. He was also past member of the Hebron Lions Club. His interests included hunting, fishing, cards, reading, and travel, and visiting casinos. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Valene; two brothers-in-law Don Stewart and Bob Hagen; his wife Rita on March 17, 2010. He is survived by his daughter Kristine Parsons of Lincoln; son Timothy Parsons of Hebron; son Kim Parsons and wife Barbara of Holdrege. Also to mourn is brother Gary Parson and wife June of Senora, CA; sister-in-law Karen Stewart of Geneseo, IL. Some of Darryl's greatest joys were his grandchildren: Clayton, Caleb, Riley, Joshua, Kathy, and Madison; great grandchildren: McKinley Schufeldt and Payton Beck. Also to mourn his passing are nieces, nephews, counsins, and many friends.
