Delmar Paul Eickmann, son of Wilhelm and Linda (Holtzen) Eickmann was born August 23, 1926 near Deshler, NE. He pased away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, NE.
He was baptized September 5, 1926 by Rev. Otto Wittig at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Ruskin, NE. and also was confirmed May 12, 1940 at St. Mark Lutheran Church. He went to country school and graduated from Deshler High School in 1944.
Delmar lived and worked on the family farm and for neighboring farmers. On April 5, 1953, he married Florence Schardt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedensau. Together they continued to live on the family farm until 1957 and then moved to Sedan, NE where he lived until his death. The Lord blessed this union with four children: Cynthia, Pauline, Julie and Kurt.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Davenport for 57 years. He helped with the construction of the church and parsonage that is still in use today. Delmar enjoyed being on the farm, spending time with his grandchildren and also many various hobbies including woodworking and tinkering in his shop.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pauline Marie; and his four sisters, Margaret Saathoff, Mildred Blumenthal, Bernice Reinke and Lorraine Scheer.
Left to mourn his death are his wife, Florence; three children, Cynthia and husband David Montague of Hastings, NE, Julie and husband Lee Maendele of Hastings, NE, and Kurt and his wife Deb Eickmann of Edgar, NE; six grandchildren, Nic Montague and wife Jotie, Brandon Maendele and wife Sarah, Ben Maendele, Shawni May and husband Tim, Chris Eickmann and Cody Eickmann; seven great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Kennedy, Stella, Nolan, Reagyn, Nash and Braxton; one sister, Eileen Stych; one brother-in-law, Floyd Blumenthal and a number of other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 2 nd , 2015 at St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Davenport, NE with Pastor Patrick Flynn officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery following the service. There will be a private family visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Orphan Grain Train or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Condolences may be sent to Urbauer-Price Funeral Home, or left at www.priceurbauerahrendts.com. Urbauer-Price Funeral Home of Davenport, Nebraska was entrusted with the arrangements.
