Delmer Fredrick Marquart of Deshler NE, son of Elmer and Gertrude (Duensing) Marquart was born August 12, 1943 and departed this life on November 11, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Delmer grew up on the farm helping his father and brother Verlen farm. He went to the country school and later graduated from Byron High School. He was baptized on Aug. 20, 1943 by Pastor L.C. Lentz at St. John’s Lutheran Church Byron. Delmer confirmed his faith on June 9, 1957 by Pastor Karl Fenske at St. John’s Lutheran Church Byron.
Delmer married the love of his life Marjorie Graning on May 14, 1967. The marriage was blessed with 2 children Douglas Scott and Amy Marie and a special “worst nightmare daughter” Anisa Gail.
Delmer loved to farm and be outside working and building things. Delmer worked at the elevator in Ruskin until an auger accident with his foot in 1999. In 2000 Delmer started working at Blue Valley Lutheran Care Home in Hebron until he retired.
God blessed Delmer with an ability to create with his hands and Delm loved making wood projects for others. He made picture frames out of barn siding, Railroad Spike People, cabinets, and special projects for his family. Delm made projects for the county fair and always loved the challenge of making an exact replica of machinery that once was on the family farm. Ultimately, Delmer’s favorite activity was helping his grandchildren with woodworking projects for 4H.
Delmer loved spending his retirement years with his daughter Amy and “son” John (who swears Dad loved him more, which is an ongoing war) along with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren who were the highlights of his life. He loved the time he spent with them and loved having cook-outs at the family farm with all his grandchildren and families, keeping traditions alive.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Marj, brother Verlen, sister Shirley, his parents Elmer and Gertrude, and brothers-in-law Michael and Robert, and Marj’s parents George and Mary.
He is survived by his daughter Amy Flint and husband John; son Douglas; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
The family requests casual attire at the service.
Funeral Services for Delmer will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, with Pastor Joseph Love officiating. Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Deshler.
