Earlene E. Bryan Koves was born Nov. 4, 1919 to Harry and Ethel (Heimer) Bryan in Hebron, Nebraska. She passed away July 29, 2015 at Haven Manor in Hickman.
Earlene was an alum of Hebron Elementary School and a graduate of Hebron High's class of 1937. She graduated from Hebron Junior College and attended the University. She taught primary grades in Alexandria, Herman and Culbertson and substituted in Hebron after her marriage.
She married Roy R. Koves on Sept. 12, 1943 and to their union were born a daughter, Charlene and a son Larry. During the war she followed her husband to various army bases throughout the southwest. After the war they resided in Hebron until 1967, then moved to Lincoln. After Roy was killed in a car accident in 1971 Earlene moved to Beatrice.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hebron, Lincoln and Beatrice and served as Leader and District Representative in Hebron and Beatrice. She was also a member of Vesper Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and received her 50 year pin in 2008. She also belonged to Legion Auxiliary, VFW, Extension Club and Beatrice Woman's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Ethel Bryan, her husband Roy, her brothers LaVerne and Hugh and her grandaughter Carrie Koves. She is survived by daughter Charlene Homolka and her husband of North Carolina, her son Larry, now of Nevada, three grandaughters Stacey Suarez of Kansas City, Amber Homolka of Houston, Tx and Nichole Seamann and her husband Chris of Mesquite NV and three great-grandsons, Zack, Caleb and Pierce.
A graveside ceremony was held Saturday, August 1, 2015at 10:00 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron.
