Edna Marie Lizetta (Brockman) Reinke was born on August 29, 1925, to William and Sophie (Kirchhoff) Brockman near Plymouth, Nebraska. She went peacefully to her heavenly home on December 16, 2014, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Superior, Nebraska. She was baptized on September 13, 1925, by Pastor C.P. Pebler at Zion Lutheran Church near Harbine, Nebraska. Edna confirmed her faith on April 2, 1939, at St. Paul Lutheran Church near Stoddard, Nebraska, in the presence of Pastor John Vollstedt. Her confirmation verse was Hebrews 13:5. Edna attended school at a country school near Hebron, NE. Her calling for caring for people started young, as she would go and stay with families, caring for children, the elderly and helping with household chores. She worked many years for Dr. and Mrs. Richard Penry, Hebron, NE. as well as at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home, in Hebron. She married Clarence Reinke on March 4, 1973, at St. John Lutheran Church, in Chester, Nebraska. She enjoyed living in the rural community, raising chickens, gardening, quilting, sewing and cooking and best of all, caring for her grandchildren. Edna was always available to help and was always concerned about local news and changes. She was active in the St. Peter Lutheran Church Women’s group. Many pounds of soap were made and quilts were tied for Lutheran World Relief. Edna is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Fredrick Brockman and one grandson, Jason Carl Reinke. Left to mourn her passing is her husband, Clarence, of Superior; her sister, Helen (Ervin) Luntzmann, Deshler; step children, Howard (Marlys) Reinke of Byron; Delmar (Janice) Reinke of Byron; and Melva (Eric) Nondorf, of Belleville, KS; grandchildren: Stuart (Diana) Reinke of Byron; Jason (Debi) Reinke, Byron; Amber (Troy) Livasy of Fremont; Ryan (Laci) Reinke of Lincoln; Theresa (Nick) Walker of Wichita, KS; Katherine (Dan) Thaemert, of Hill Rose, CO; Amy (Zach) Baer of Clay Center, KS; Ann Levendofske of Belleville, KS and several great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Alice (Jeff) Anderson of Hastings and Judy Donner of Deshler. Also other relatives and many friends. In lieu of thank yous, the money that would be spent will go to the Edna Reinke Memorial.
Edna's family will be greeting family and friends Friday 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Edna Reinke Memorial to be designated by the family at a later time.
