. She was 85 years of age. Elaine was born June 26, 1927 on a farm near
Gilead
,
Nebraska
, the fourth child of Albert and Hattie (Kubert) Bandemer. She was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in
Gilead
. Elaine attended grade school at District #17 the
Rock
School
north of town. She graduated from
Alexandria
High School
in 1944. Following graduation she taught one year at the school and had two students. Following that school year the school was closed and is now at the
Belvidere
Historical
Museum
. On December 23, 1947 she was married to Elmer George. Elaine continued to teach and pursed her education degree by attending
Fairbury
Junior College
and the
University
of
Lincoln
. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1976. Elaine taught school for 30 years. She was a member of the State and National Teachers Association. She taught Sunday school and Bible school, belonged to the Extension Club, and was a lifetime member of the Thayer County V.F.W. Auxiliary having received her 50 years pin. Elaine enjoyed card clubs, fishing, dining out, dancing, gardening, yard work, and helping Elmer out on the farm. Elaine and Elmer were married 52 years before he died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law Marie and Louis Mulinix; brothers, Harold and Loren; and Aunt Mildred Cloyd. She will be forever remembered by sisters-in-law Doris Bandemer,
Omaha
and Blanche Bandemer,
Geneva
; nephews Gene Mulinix, Clinton, Douglas and Don Bandemer; nieces Sharon Schuers, Kathy Rahe, and Cindy Ring; grandnephews & nieces; other cousins and relatives.
