Eugene
was a merchant marine from 1943-1944 after which he took over the family business as the
owner of Elder Jewelry. On May 13, 1944 he was married to Betty Jane Keil and to this union three children were born, daughters Sharon and Lynn and son Kim.
Eugene
was a master jeweler and was a Gemological Institute of America graduate.

owned Elder Jewelry in
Hebron
, NE. from 1944-l984 and Elder Jewelry in
Fairbury
NE
from l986 to 2008. After this
Eugene
retired and moved to
Lincoln
to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Clyda Elder, his wife, Betty J. Elder in 2007, and his sister Genevieve Tibbetts. Eugene will be forever remembered by his children Sharon Elder, Kim Elder and wife Francie, Lynn Elder Hatwan and husband Patrick; 8 grandchildren, Diona Peithman, Don Peithman and A.J. Peithman, Mandy Elder Hoppe and husband Dale, Katie Elder and Aron Elder, Matthew Meagher and Shannon Meagher; 2 great-grandchildren Colton Hoppe and Amelia Elder.
The funeral service was held at Price Funeral Home,

Nebraska
on Saturday, 3-11-11 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Friesen officiating.. The burial followed where Gene was put to rest by his wife at the
