Dessie Goldie Bartling was born Oct. 7, 1919 in Mullen, NE. to Omar Pash and Eva (McMillan) Hendershot. She departed this world Tuesday Sept. 25, 2012 at Blue Valley Nursing Home in Hebron , NE. at the age of 92 years. Goldie, as she wanted to be called, lived her childhood years in Deshler Nebraska until her senior year of high school when her family moved to Hebron . She graduated from Hebron High School in 1937. On October 17, 1937 she was married to Fred W. Bartling in Belleville KS . They were blessed with the birth of seven children. Living most of their married years on Olive Avenue in Hebron , their58 year union was interrupted with Fred's passing in 1996. The long separation has now ended and they are together again with the Lord. Goldie was a devoted stay-at-home mother and homemaker. Her life revolved around her family and children. She took pride in her years of service to Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts, her job of monitoring children on the playground and busses for Hebron Schools, and being the afterschool and summertime "mom" to many neighborhood children. She was an active member of the Hebron Volunteer Fireman's Auxiliary. Goldie's passion was sewing, tailoring most of her family's clothing. From pot holders to wedding dresses, her favorite was sewing doll clothes. She was an accomplished bread baker, and she put the divine in her homemade divinity. She loved to camp, visit her family, and play games, especially with her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant sister, brother, Walter, sister Ruth, son LaRue, and grandson Richard. She leaves behind daughters Beverly Scholz of Centerville, Indiana; Bonnie Motley and husband Keith of Hebron; Nancy Sackschewsky and husband Lynn of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Christina Wolff and husband Michael of Gothenburg, Nebraska; sons Robert and wife Debra of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; Glenn and wife Jane of Deshler, Nebraska, nineteen grandchildren: Kelli (Pat) Maguire; Russell (Julie) Bartling; Steve (Tammy) Scholz, Sherri (Keith) Theimer; Shelly (Jim) Jakubowski; Brian (Rhea) Motley; Janelle Samuelson; Leanne (Darin) Hill; Katherine (Kevin) Robbins; Scott (Jada) Sackschewsky; Matthew (Kandra) Sackschewsky; Angela (Timothy) Higgins; Barbara (Brent) Jensen; Brenda (Jason) Waugh; Michelle (Jameson) Peters; Jennifer (Dwight) Owens; Andrew Bartling; Timothy (Chelsea) Bartling; Jessica Wolff, forty-three great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating Goldie's life will be held at the First Community Church in Hebron NE. on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
