Gregory James McLaughlin, known to his loved ones as Greg, passed away on September 6, 2023, in Hubbell, Nebraska, at the age of 54.
Born on June 9, 1969, in Omaha, Nebraska, Greg was a man of great intelligence, kindness, and faith. Greg is preceded in death by his grandparents Joy and Erma McLaughlin, Francis and Adelaide McGeeney. Surviving Greg are his parents Jim McLaughlin, Hubbell, Ne and Karen Curtin, Wichita, Ks, his sister Leslie McCord, Wichita, Ks, her husband Matt McCord, and daughter April Gee, and son Liam McCord. His children, Macy Mohr, Tulsa, OK, Bailey McLaughlin, Lincoln, Ne, Jesse and Mercy McLaughlin, Pawnee City, Ne. Survived also by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Greg had a voracious appetite for knowledge and was an avid reader. He could often be found engrossed in a book, delving into a wide range of topics. His curiosity knew no bounds, and he thoroughly enjoyed engaging in discussions on various subjects. Greg had his own unique perspectives on life and the world, but he always welcomed the opportunity to listen to others and engage in thoughtful conversations.
A man deeply devoted to his faith, Greg believed that reading the Bible was essential for one’s journey to heaven. He cherished his family and held a special place in his heart for his four children, whom he adored unconditionally. Even when circumstances kept him physically apart from them, his love for them remained unwavering. His health in later years became very challenging.
Greg attended high school at Axtell Public School and furthered his education at Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Ne, expanding his knowledge and honing his skills. Greg achieved success as a truck driver and was owner/operator of McLaughlin Trucking Co.
In his leisure time, Greg found solace in the company of books and music. Reading was not only a hobby but also a source of inspiration and enlightenment for him. He could lose himself in the pages of a captivating novel or explore the depths of various genres of music, finding joy and tranquility in both.
Gregory James McLaughlin leaves behind a legacy of four beautiful children, an intellectual curiosity, kindness, and unwavering faith. His memory will be cherished by all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul find eternal peace.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Main Street, Summerfield, KS. Interment will be at the Summerfield Cemetery.
