James P. Laue

James Pierce Laue, age 62 of Hubbell, Nebraska, was born to James H. and Edith C. Laue on January 28, 1955 and passed from this life Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Thayer County Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 62 years. Most of his younger life was spent in Denver, Colorado. He was baptized at America Lutheran Church in Denver. After his high school graduation, he moved to Beatrice, Nebraska. He lived there for a few years and worked helping to build grain bins. He then moved back to Denver and worked as a chef at various businesses for quite a few years. He then worked at the Seattle Fish company in Denver for 15 years as a freezer manager and truck driver. When leaving Seattle Fish, James became an over-the-road truck driver. In 2013 he moved to Hubbell, Nebraska and started working as a cook at Courtyard Terrace in Hebron until medical problems forced him to retire in 2016. James was united in marriage on October 26, 1991 to Judy Slabaugh in Evergreen, Colorado and to this union a daughter, Jessica was born. The union dissolved in 2014. One of his favorite memories was traveling with his brother Darrell to Wheaton, Minnesota and spending the summer with his sister Rhonda and her husband. While there he worked with his brother-in-law’s family at their Massey Ferguson implement dealership. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing (but not with leeches). James was preceded in death by his father James Henry, brother Darrell and nephew Benjamin. He will be forever remembered by his daughter Jessica Laue of Denver; mother Edith Laue of Hubbell; sisters, Sherri Yacks and husband Patrick of Hubbell and Rhonda Summers and husband Scott of Jefferson, South Dakota; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
