Jarvis Bert Lautenschlager, the son of John and Bertha (Sanner) Lautenschlager, was born on November 24, 1923, in
He was baptized in 1927 by Rev. Hershey and confirmed in 1938 by Rev. Dumler.
Jarvis grew up in the
Jarvis loved farming and worked for different farms after graduation from high school. He met his wife Sylvia Schmitt while working on her father's farm. They were united in marriage on May 27, 1944, in
In his younger years he loved to play ball and coached for several years. Jarvis loved horses, working with them and riding them. He also loved his cattle and could pick a certain one out of all his black ones. After retirement he enjoyed gardening.
He served on the School Board District #4 in Oak; on
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sylvia on Dec. 20, 2005; grandsons, Cory Smalley and Shane Lautenschlager; and brother, Roy Lautenschlager.
He is survived by his 3 children: Shirley Smalley and husband, Joe of Kearney, NE; Lee Lautenschlager and significant other, Linda Griess of Shickley; and Jay Lautenschlager and wife, JeanE of Deshler; sisters: Geneise Braun of Hebron; Sylva Finke of Lincoln; and Marlene Claycamp of Edgar and brother, Irl Lautenschlager of Carter Lake, IA; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great_grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 10:30 AM, at
Pallbearers are Nick Smalley, Tyler Smalley, Jared Smalley, Lanny Lautenschlager, Bill Stroud, and Patrick Karr. Honorary bearers are Jessica Musil, Jena Stroud, McKenzie Musil, Landon Stroud, Sydney Lautenschlager and Sara Smalley.
