to George D. and Emma (Ludwig) Oeltjen. She departed this life August 27, 2011 at Thayer County Health Services at the age of 88 years. Jennie was baptized July 29, 1923 by Pastor William Colcher. Her baptismal verse was Matthew 28:19. She was confirmed May 23, 1937 by Pastor William Colcher. Her confirmation verse was 1Timothy 4:8. She attended St. Peter Lutheran Parochial school through the eighth grade and graduated from
Deshler
High School
in 1941. Jennie married
Roy
"Red" Windhorst on August 31 1941 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE officiated by Pastor Meisler. This union was blessed by the birth of three children, two daughters and one son, Jeanette, Roy Jr., and Georgia Dee. After Roy and Jennie's marriage they lived in
Wichita
,
KS
where
Roy
was employed.
Roy
was drafted into the service in 1944 so Jennie and Jeanette moved back to Deshler while
Roy
served in the Navy. On his return, the family moved to several farms in the area until they settled to a farm south west of Deshler where they lived until they retired to their present home in Deshler. Jennie worked in the Deshler Broom Factory and the local sundry store. She was a member of the St. Peter Ladies Auxiliary, the church choir and she also taught Sunday school for several years. She looked forward to visits from her children, grand kids, and great grand kids. She enjoyed sewing for her family, reading, camping, traveling, and playing cards. She enjoyed music and singing in the Deshler high school chorus as a teenager, and "Four Bells." She is preceded in death by her parents George and Emma Oeltjen, her brothers Rudolph, Oscar, and Edwin (Bud), two sisters, Dorothy Worm and Alvina. She is survived by her husband Roy, daughter Jeanette Harms and husband Robert, Hebron, NE; son Roy Jr. and wife Peggy, Clinton, WI; daughter Georgia and husband Ken Molacek, Fremont, NE; sister-in-law Maxine Oeltjen (Oscar) and her daughter Connie Smith and husband Jim residing in Cowden, IL; cousin Jane Oeltjen, grandchildren Rhonda Vizner, Wichita, KS; Jeanell Mumm and husband Gill, Chester, NE; Ryan Harms and wife Andrea, Concordia, KS; Eric Windhorst, Portland, OR; Nina Harmes and husband Craig, DeForest, WI; Terri Volz, Lincoln, NE; Amy Thorpe and husband Tom, Lincoln, NE; and fourteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
