Joan Yvonne (Wiedel) Hintz (76), of Hebron, NE, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020 in Hebron, NE, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Rosary will be held Friday, August 7, 2020, at 7PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hebron, NE.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 10AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, NE, with Rev. Steven Major and Rev. Tom Wiedel officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled through Price Urbauer Ahrendts Funeral Home.
Joan was born on the family farm near Stoddard, NE, to Benjamin and Burnece (Hergott) Wiedel on March 19, 1944. She attended grade school at Sacred Heart and graduated from Hebron High School in 1962. Joan married Ron Hintz on September 5, 1964, at Sacred Heart Church in Hebron, NE. She worked as a secretary for several legal practices in Columbus, Lincoln and Hebron for many years, as well as Thayer County hospital before opening Hintz’s Cheese Crafts and Inflatables store.
Joan was also very involved with St. Ann Altar Society, taught CCD and was a fixture in the bleachers cheering on her grandkids’ talents by attending matches, games and concerts.
Joan is preceded in death by parents Benjamin and Burnece Wiedel, step-father Ferd McKenzie, brother Michael (Jack) Wiedel, sister Dorothy Hintz and husband Darrell, sister Catherine Wiedel, brother-in-law John Emanuel and sister-in-law Cheryle Wiedel.
Joan is survived by husband Ronald, daughter Lorie (Kent) Volkmer, son Rick (Ranae) Hintz, sisters Jeanette (Ken) Else and Darlene Emanuel, Grandchildren Sarah (Gerard) Zak, Kale (Alexandra) Hintz, Kevin (Chelsea) Volkmer, Clayton Hintz and Alex Medina, Kylea Hintz and Shane Stan, Chloe Hintz and Colby Peterson as well as many nieces and nephews.
