Joyce Ann Easton

Joyce Ann Easton was born on June 22nd, 1933 in Fairbury, NE to Gaylend and Anna (Weichel) Lightbody.  She passed away on December 10th, 2021 in Hebron NE, at the age of 88.

She graduated from Fairbury High School in 1951.  While in school, she was a member of Glee Club, Tri-Y, and a drummer in the high school band.

She married William “Bill” Easton on May 1st, 1954 in Fairbury, NE.  To this union of 67 years, 2 boys were born, Clark and Kirk.

Joyce worked as a bookkeeper throughout her life for several area businesses including City Investment, Farm Bureau, Thayer County Courthouse, Byron Chemical, Peake’s Transportation, Reinke’s, and Foote’s Service Station.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Thayer County Fair Board, Thayer County Feeders, and The Daughters of the American Revolution.  She very much enjoyed bowling and at one time served as the secretary for the Nebraska Bowling Association.  She was a collector of frog décor and also loved country music, gardening, crocheting, genealogy, traveling, baking, and always had time for a board or card game with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Don Lightbody.

She is survived by her husband Bill, son Clark Easton and wife Julie of Hebron, son Kirk Easton of Chester, granddaughter Brooke Cutlan and husband Nate of Jericho, VT, grandson Clinton Easton and wife Heidi of Hebron, and granddaughter Haley Popelka and husband William of Belleville, KS ; great-grandchildren Emily, Logan, and Brantly Easton of Hebron, and Dierks and Turner Popelka of Belleville, KS.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Price Funeral Home Chapel in Hebron, Nebraska, with Pastor Brian Faust officiating. Burial will be at the Hebron City Cemetery immediately following the service. Viewing will be Wednesday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.  Price-Urbauer-Ahrendts Funeral Home, Hebron, assisted the family with arrangements.
