Lewis Fredric Durham, son of Elbert Lee and Rosella (Johnson) Durham was born November 14, 1940 in Harper, Kansas. He passed from this life Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Thayer County Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska at the age of 75 years.
Lewis enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in 1959 and served the Corps proudly until 1968. He served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War.
Lewis was married to Joan Arvidson on February 15, 1980 at San Mateo, California. While living in Texas, he was co-owner-operator of ABC Pest Control.
Lewis loved his model trains, astronomy (a passion he passed on to his children), movies, and especially spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, and sisters Esta and Carol Sue. Lewis will be forever remembered by his wife Joan of their home; daughters Christina Durham and Mark Green, Cibolo, Texas, Jeanette (Kurtis) Kent, Hebron, and Karla (John) Duenas, Deshler; son Jason Durham, Fairbury; grandchildren Lauren Hiebel, Taylor Hiebel, Shelton Kreshon Smith, Kassandra Kent, and Evan Lewis Durham; great-granddaughter Abigail Rule; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Judy Turgeon, Omaha, NE.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Price Funeral Home in Hebron, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating. According to Lewis’ wishes his cremains will be delivered to the Naval Center in San Diego, CA to be scattered at sea by the US Marine Corps. Price Funeral Home assisted the Durham family with these arrangements.
Lewis' wishes were for direct cremation. Friends may sign register book February 8 to the 13th at the funeral home during regular business hours.
