Loretta J Burton

Loretta Jean Burton was born April 16, 1933 to Soren and Hazel Rockholm at Anoka, Nebraska. She passed from this life Thursday, December 8, 2016 ay Bryan Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 83 years. Her family moved to Hastings, Nebraska to work in the ammunition depot during WWII. Loretta graduated from Hastings High School in 1951 and then attended Bonnell Beauty Academy. Upon finishing her training, she moved to Geneva where she owned and operated LaSalle Beauty Salon. She met Jay Burton there and they were married in June of 1956. Loretta and Jay spent a brief time of seven months in Torrance, California and then returned to their home in Geneva. Their first son Michael was born in Hebron, Nebraska. When he was four, they spent time in Loveland and Fort Collins, Colorado where their second son, Timothy was born. When the boys were grown, Loretta and Jay moved to Alaska in 1984 where she worked as a beautician until she retired. In 2001 they left Alaska for Ankeny, Iowa living there until Jay retired and they moved to their home in Nelson, Nebraska. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and husband Jay in March of this year. She will be forever remembered by her sons, Michael Burton and wife Debbie, Peyton, Colorado and Timothy Burton and wife Deborah, of Aberdeen, Maryland; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Walton and June Mueller of Hastings, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Direct cremation was chosen by the family.

A family memorial gathering and inurnment will be held at a later time.
