Margie Ailene (Nelson) Mosier, 93, of Davenport, NE, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, NE. She was born 2 miles east of Verona, NE on April 9, 1921, the daughter of James and Josephine (Anderson) Nelson.
Margie was baptized at an early age and attended church and Sunday School at The Little Church on The Hill, west of Verona. She attended a two room school in Verona through the 10th grade and graduated from Sutton High School. After graduation she taught school west of Ong in Logan Center.
She married Marvin Mosier on May 20, 1939, in Belleville, KS and to this union five children were born. All of their children were baptized, confirmed, and married in Christ’ Lutheran Church. They had lived on two different farms near Sedan and retired in Davenport in 1977.
Margie was a member of Christ’ Lutheran Church, WELCA, and the Eastern Star Chapter #268. Margie joined Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church after her marriage and remained an active member. She taught Sunday School for many years and was also a 4-H Club leader.
Those who will cherish her memory include her children and their spouses; Marlys (Richard) Mello of Fall River, MA, Leanna (Jim) Bounds of Corpus Christi, TX, Wesley (Jan) Mosier of Edgar, NE and Julie Mosier of Kearney, NE; sister in law, Marian Mosier of Hebron, NE, daughter-in-law, Suzanne Mosier of Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, David (Barbara) Walker of Fowlerville, MI, Debra Fordyce of Grass Valley, CA, Duane (Janine) Walker of Fenton, MI, Natasha Bounds of Madison, WI, Philip Mosier of Richmond, VA, Joshua (Nicole) Mosier of Deshler, NE, Alicia (Steve) Chesser of Tulsa, OK, Ryan (Athena) Pace of Kearney, NE, Amanda (Doug) Amend of Kearney, NE and Derrick (Audra) Pace of Omaha, NE; 21 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Mosier in 2010; Son, Wayne Mosier; brother, Curtis Nelson; sister, Fern Penner; brothers in law, Kenneth Mosier and Charlie Mosier; and sister in law, Ethel Mosier.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, December 22, 2014 at Christ’ Lutheran Church in Davenport, NE with Pastor Kristen Van Stee officiating. Burial will be in the Davenport City Cemetery following the service. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made in Margie’s name to be designated at a later date.
