Marilyn Ema (Berkey) Pearson, daughter of Ray S. Berkey and Gladys Geneva (Lambert) Berkey was born February 8, 1924 near Davenport, NE and passed from this life Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 29 days. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ’s Lutheran Church in Davenport, NE. She attended country school in District 87 in Fillmore County and graduated from Davenport High School in 1941. Marilyn had normal training in high school which allowed her to teach school. She taught school until May 1944. On March 26, 1944 Marilyn married Arvid Pearson at Christ’s Lutheran Church in Davenport, NE, where they celebrated 73 years of marriage. To this union five children were born; Jean Loree, Randall Ray, Virginia Kay, Judith Diane and Ronn Sterling. Marilyn’s favorite pastime was riding horses from childhood on. Her favorite times were spent cooking for her family and baking pies and cinnamon rolls. She loved doing embroidery work all her life and especially in her later years, even up until the time of her death. She will be forever remembered by her children, Jean and Rod Miller, Dundas, MN, Randy and Pam Pearson, Geneva, NE, Virginia (Jill) and Wayne Biltoft, Custer, SD, Judy and Steve Reinke, York, NE, and Ronn and Carol Pearson, Davenport, NE, 17 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandchild.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her 3 siblings, son-in-law Rene’ Molthan, Granddaughter Cassidy Hoffschneider and the love of her life for 73 years, Arvid. Marilyn touched the lives of many people by writing encouraging notes to others and by supporting the community of Davenport.



Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Christ Lutheran Church, Davenport, Nebraska with Pastor Patrick Sipes officiating. Her cremated remains were laid to rest by her husband Arvid in Davenport City Cemetery. The congregation sang "Precious Lord Take My Hand", "Just as I Am" and "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling" with Deb Pohlmann playing the organ. Her grandchildren were listed as Honorary Bearers. In memory of Marilyn, memorials may be given to the church. Urbauer Funeral Home had the privilege of serving the Pearson for these arrangements.
