Mollie Caroline (Endorf) Achterberg, 101, of Hebron, passed away November 13, 2014 at the Blue Valley Nursing Home in Hebron. She was born to Herman and Sophie (Shoenbeck) Endorf on May 12, 1913 at home, three miles south of Tobias, NE. She was baptized in the Christian faith the day she was born by Reverend Karl Schroeder. Mollie attended the Zion Lutheran Church School through the 8 th grade, where she was confirmed on April 1, 1928 by Pastor W. G. Naw. She graduated from Tobias High School in 1932.
She married Ernest Achterberg in 1952 and moved to a farm near Hebron. To this union, two sons were born. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church for 62 years. She was also a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Ladies Aid.
Mollie learned to crochet when very young and also did embroidery work, sewing, and a lot of quilting. She could also speak, read and write German.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; brothers, Carl, Gerald, Herbert and Herman; and a sister Hilda.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons and their wives, Rodney and Sheryl Achterberg of Deshler and Galen and Susan Achterberg of Hebron, NE; and grandchildren, Laura, Heather, David, Molly, and Michael Achterberg.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church (Friedensau) rural Hebron, NE on Wednesday, November 19. Following the service, burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery (Friedensau) rural Hebron, NE. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Ahrendts Funeral Home in Deshler. Ahrendts Funeral Home of Deshler, NE has been entrusted with the arrangements.
