Norma Florine Oliver was born March 4, 1927 in Alexandria, Nebraska to August and Laura (Star) Hergott. She passed from this life on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Blue Valley Care Home, Hebron, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 6 months, 24 days. Norma grew up on a farm near Alexandria, Nebraska attending country school and high schoolin Alexandriatill the tenth grade. Since Fairbury offered secretarial courses, she transferred from Alexandria and attended two years at Fairbury High school graduating with the Class of 1944. After graduation, Norma worked in a bank in Fairbury and later moved to Denver, Colorado to work in a bank there. She met Clinton Calvin Oliver and they married January 21, 1950. They moved to a farm west of Hebron where they farmed. She became employed at the Thayer County Extension office where she was a dedicated employee for 37 years until her retirement on November 1, 1993. Norma belonged to the Oregon Trail Riders Saddle Club for many years, sharing her love for horses. She was the club secretary and treasurer; helped with annual horse shows; club fish fries; Christmas parties; saddle club dances; and many over night trail rides. It was a tight group until being disbanded in 2000. Norma was a member of Rebekah-Mason Lodge; Nuckolls County Extension Club friends; and the courthouse "crew" for many years. She enjoyed gardening; flowers; and her wonderful horses "Rocket" and "Poco" as well as several beloved dogs. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clinton Oliver on June 1, 1994; and sister Evelyn on October 13, 1974. She will be forever remembered by her brother Wilfrid Hergott of Hebron and his sons and families: Rick, Gary, Ronald Eugene, Gregory, and Lonnie; and lifelong friends Jerry and Carol Anderson of Deshler.



Memorial services will be held 2:00pm Monday, October 3, 2016 at Price Funeral Home, Hebron, Nebraska with Father Rudy O’borny officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hebron. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Price-Urbauer-Ahrendts Funeral Home, Hebron, Davenport, Deshler was in charge of these arrangements.
