Otis Daniel Boyd, son of Alfred R. and Alta Mae (Matheny) Boyd, was born June 20, 1932 near Reynolds, Nebraska. He passed from this life Thursday evening, May 18, 2017 at the Blue Valley Nursing Home of Hebron, Nebraska. He was 84 years of age. Otis grew up in the Reynolds area, attending public schools and graduating from Reynolds High School with the Class of 1950. He also attended and graduated from Milford Tech School. He enlisted into the United States Army on October 1, 1952 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1955 while stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. Following his discharge from the Army, Otis moved to Rushville, Nebraska and worked several years there as an auto mechanic. A few years after his father died, Otis moved back to Hebron to care for his mother. He continued his work as a mechanic for Ken-Boy Motors in Hebron. In his time off, Otis enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards, watching westerns, having visitors and traveling in the US, Canada and Spain. He attended the First Community Church and was a deacon and greeter for many years. Otis was a former member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He was proud of his service to his country. Otis lived at Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron from 2014 -2017 and enjoyed participating in the activities while he was there. Otis was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Catie, Wanda and Juanita; and brothers Floyd, Wayne and Lester. He will be forever remembered by his sister, Irene Ruth Baloun, York, Nebraska; brother, Alfred Boyd, Chesapeake, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
