Raymond W. Rippe, 84, of Hebron, NE, passed away on July 8, 2013, at the Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home, Hebron, NE. He was born near Hebron on July 25, 1928, the son of John Henry and Mathilda (Fangmeyer) Rippe. Raymond grew up on the family farm near Hebron, NE and attended school in Stoddard, NE. He was baptized on August 12, 1928 and confirmed on June 28, 1942 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church near Stoddard. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from November 28, 1950 to August 27, 1952. After his military service he moved back to the Hebron area and began his lifelong passion of farming and raising livestock. He was united in marriage to Shirley Schmitz on June 1, 1956 at the United Methodist church in Fairbury. Ray and Shirley eventually settled in the Hubbell area where they farmed and raised their family. They retired from farming in 1995 and moved to Hebron. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley of Hebron; children and their spouses, Judy and Kelvin Kurkowski of Grant, NE, Duane and Brenda Rippe of Hubbell, NE, Nancy and Dan Weiner of Sterling, KS, Larry and Beth Rippe of Gretna, NE and Cheryl and Eric Watts of Great Bend, KS; brother and his wife, Melvin and Adeline Rippe of Hebron; and sister, Phyllis Ulsh of Sherwood, OR. Those also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren and their spouses, Nikelle and Michael Knight and their children Jaden and Kenzie of Stuart, VA, Max Kurkowski of Ogallala, NE, Ross Kurkowski of Grant, NE, Kye Kurkowski of Lincoln, NE, Zak and Jaclyn Kurkowski both of Grant, NE, Dustin and Karla Rippe of Sutton, NE, Henry, Edward and William Weiner all of Sterling, KS, Angela and Andrew Zegers of Lincoln, NE, Stephanie, Anthony and Jonathan Rippe all of Gretna, NE and Mikayla Watts of Great Bend, KS. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edwin, Elmer and Clarence; sister Lydia Harms; granddaughter Alicia; great grandson, Karson; sisters-in-law Melinda and LaVerne; and brothers-in-law, Arno Harms and John Ulsh.
