Robert R. Messing

Robert (Bob) Richard Messing, the son of August and Margaret (Eisenhauer) Messing, was born on January 9, 1938, in Gilead , Nebraska . He died unexpectedly on April 18, 2011, at his home in Lincoln , at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 9 days. He was raised on the family farm, before joining the US Navy, then later moved to Lincoln where he lived until his death. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norbert, Gilbert, Delmar, Dwaine, and Larry Messing; sisters, Lola, Buella, Esther, Lilia and Irene Messing. He is survived by one son, Richard R. Messing of Columbus , NE ; one grandson, Todd R. Messing of Lincoln , NE ; and one granddaughter, Mikayla L. Messing of Columbus , NE ; one sister, Maxine VanWinkle of Washington , KS ; two brothers, Lester Messing of Gilead , NE and Merle Messing of Rockford, IL; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Price Funeral Home in Hebron , Nebraska with Pastor Steven Frazier officiating. Music was "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden". Pallbearers were Bill Mumford, Bruce Messing, Terry Messing, Scott Messing, Todd Messing, and Jerold Dux. Interment was in the Union Cemetery at Gilead , Nebraska . Memorials go to the family's choice.
