Ruby Bell Baloun

Ruby Bell (Duey) Baloun, 97, of Hebron, NE, passed away on February 12, 2014, at the Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, NE. She was born in rural Chester, NE on April 29, 1916, thedaughter of Charles and Mable (George) Duey.

She was baptized at the First Methodist Church in Chester on February 9, 1920 by Rev. Ballard. Ruby graduated from Chester High School in 1935. She worked in various places in both Belleville, KS and Hebron, NE.

The family moved to Hebron in November of 1959. She worked at the Blue Valley Nursing Home, and the Hebron Hospital as a nurses aid until her retirement in October of 1984.

Ruby transferred to the First United Methodist Church in Hebron. She was also a member of the Czech Club in Cuba, KS and the Thayer County Genealogy Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William in November of 1989; a son, Rodney; two brothers, John and Raymond; and five sisters, Edna, Gladys, Hazel, Bertha and Elsie.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Adella (Charles) Thompson of Plymouth, NE and Barbara (Lyle) Schmit of Fairbury, NE; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Arlene Baloun of Belleville, KS; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Hebron, NE. Burial will be in the Chester Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Sunday, February 16, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
