Ruth E. Summers was born November 21, 1927, in Belvidere, Nebraska, to Charles David Law and Iva Sassaman Law. She went peacefully and joyfully to meet her Lord and family in Heaven on June 29, 2014.



Ruth graduated in Belvidere where she was belonged to the Congregational Church. She transferred to the Alexandria Presbyterian Church. Ruth sang, played piano and organ, and enjoyed entertaining and comforting people with music.



Ruth served on the Meridian School Board. She held offices in American Legion Auxiliary Unit #194 during her 65 year membership, District 11 Secretary and 8 & 40. She served as Village Clerk for 15 years and was employed at Alexandria Meat Packing Company, the Fairbury Locker, and the Smart Alex Café. She was an Avon representative for 18 years.



She is survived by eight of her nine children: Susan (Lloyd) Goodson, Lincoln; Bob (Vickie), Hastings; Dave (Rene’), Alexandria; Rick and Steven, Hastings; Cindy Lugan, Lincoln; Joe, Alexandria; Tim (Sheryl), Eagle; 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, cousins, and many friends.



Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam, and their son Andy; daughter-in-law Michelle (Mrs. Joe Summers), grandchildren Faith and Lance; her parents and parents-in-law; sisters Doris Stewart and Jane Harrington; brothers Robert and Everett Law; half-sisters Francis Law Buller and Gladys Law Sinn; and half-brother George Law.



Following Ruth’s wishes she was cremated and memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 3 rd , 2014, at 10:30 AM at Alexandria United Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Lana Likens officiating. Organist will be Jean Pletcher, soloist Ken Hoge with musical selections "Come Ye Disconsolate", "Heavenly Sunshine", "Only Believe", "Amazing Grace" and "God’s Tomorrow". Honorary bearers will be Ruth’s grandchildren. Inurnment will be in the Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials go to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #194 or the Alexandria Presbyterian Church.
