Ulala J. Meyer

Ulala Joan Meyer passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Blue Valley Nursing Home, Hebron, Nebraska after a battle with cancer. She was 78 years of age. Ulala was born September 29, 1938 in Deshler, Nebraska to Verneda (Smith) and Albert Meyer. She graduated from Deshler High School in 1956. Ulala married Leonard Heyen on September 8, 1957 and to this union two daughters were born: Verlene and LeiLani. Ulala spent her entire life in the Deshler area. She always enjoyed having a large garden and many poultry to share. She collected large amounts of animals who all had names and she loved having them. Ulala enjoyed leather craft and created her own business, Rocking H Leather. She wastireless and enjoyed the vibrant business she owned,"Hotel Deshler". Ulala cherished her many dear friends young and old. Ulala was preceded in death by her parents; Verla and Chuck Mason, her sister and brother-in-law. She will be forever remembered by her daughters, Verlene (Tom) Melton, Scottsdale, Arizona and J. LeiLani (Marc) Carlise, Springville, California; three grandchildren, Brandon, Amira and Andy; ex-spouse Leonard Heyen; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
