Vernita L. Lipker, 86, of Davenport, the daughter of Clarence Marion and Amy Maude (Eastman) Vorce, was born August 15, 1928 in Western, NE. She passed from this life on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, Nebraska.



Vernita was baptized in Western, NE and graduated from Tobias High School where she was the valedictorian. She attended college and received her teaching certificate. Following that she taught at a country school for a couple years and then taught at the Tobias grade school. Vernita moved to Lincoln, NE and became a telephone operator, where she worked for the Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Company. She later married Harvey Lipker on June 1, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln, NE, where she was confirmed and they spent 57 wonderful years together.



She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Davenport.



Vernita enjoyed playing the piano when she was younger and helping out with the farming operations alongside Harvey. She especially loved to cook and spend time with her children and grandchildren.



Those left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Gloria (Tom) Eickman of Deshler, NE, and Joyce (Charlie) Heyen of Davenport, NE; brother, Don (Arlene) Vorce of Davenport, NE; sister, Carol (Vorce) Bennett of Florissant, MO; grandchildren, Amber Eickman Bruyere of Omaha, NE, Jeremy Eickman of Omaha, NE, Tonja (Craig) Vyhnalek of Wilber, NE, Melissa (T.J.) of Fremont, NE, Chelsey Heyen of Bridgeport, NE and Shane Heyen of Davenport, NE; great grandchildren, Zachary, Cameron, and Garrett Vyhnalek, Braelynn Renz, Sidney Bruyere, and Tinsley and Keean Roffers; and many other nieces, nephews and family members.



Those that preceded Vernita in death are her parents, and husband, Harvey on May 18, 2010; brother Marvin and wife Arleen Vorce; brothers in law and sisters in law, Don Bennett, Earnest and Hannah Lipker, Erna Lipker, Alvina Lipker, Art and Esther Schnakenberg, Leonard and Lorna Schnakenberg, Hubert Lipker, Melvin and Hertha Bethke and Gilbert Poppe.



Services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, March 6, 2015 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Davenport. Visitation will be from Noon to 8:00 PM Thursday at Urbauer-Price Funeral Home in Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
