William Edward "Bill" Johnson

William Edward “Bill” Johnson, 85, of Hebron, died Sunday April 14, 2024, at Thayer County Health Services surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born July 8, 1938 to Fredrick and Avis (Richardson) Johnson in Boise, Idaho.  He graduated from Boise High School and joined the US Navy in 1956.  Bill married the love of his life, Patricia Dennis, on May 3, 1957, this union was blessed with two sons, Luke and Marc.  Bill and Pat were married for 58 years until Pat’s death in 2015.  The family lived all over Europe and the Far East during Bill’s 25 years in the Navy.  He retired from the Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer in 1981.  Bill continued working for the Navy as a civilian for an additional 20 years, retiring in 2001 in Pensacola, Florida.

Bill is survived by his son, Luke Johnson and wife Rose, of Hebron, NE; four grandsons, Ryan Johnson and wife Melissa, of Deshler, NE, Derek Johnson and wife Makaela, of Hickman, NE, Cody Johnson and wife Stephanie, of Hebron, NE, and Cole Johnson of Lincoln, NE; five great-grandchildren, Conner, Braden and Brynlee Johnson of Deshler, NE, Kiptyn and Kaelyn Johnson of Hickman, NE; one sister Janice Bodine, of Boise, ID; sisters-in-law Sandi Weeks, of Boise, ID, Joanne Ayscue, of North Carolina, and Debra Brand, of California.

He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia; son Marc; brothers-in-law David Bodine, Stan Dennis and Denny Weeks; sisters-in-law Arlee Hager and Toni Pakutka.

Services are to be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.
