Betty Lou Dudgeon was born on October 31, 1933, in Hebron, Nebraska to Edward and Virginia (Johnson) Valek. She passed on April 6, 2021 at the age of 87. Betty was baptized on April 21, 1946 at the First Christian Church in Hebron. She attended Belvidere Public School. She was united in marriage to Eugene Dudgeon on February 14, 1951. They were blessed with five children, Jacqueline, Cynthia, Teresa, Michael and Sandra. The family spent three years in Grand Island and then returned to the family farm near Carleton. Betty was a member of the Belvidere Better Homemakers, a deaconess of United Church of Christ, in Belvidere and the First Christian Church in Hebron. She enjoyed volunteering at Blue Valley Community Action and was a member of the Hebron Country Club. She enjoyed playing golf, fishing, boating, gardening, reading, crocheting, knitting, embroidery and ceramics. Betty was preceded in death by: her parents, Virginia and Edward Valek; husband, Eugene; daughter, Cynthia Landenberger; brother, Roger Valek; brothers/sisters-in-law, Bob Dudgeon, Delma Dudgeon, Walter Rasher, Dorothy Rasher, Gerald Dudgeon and Byron Moriarty. She is survived by: daughters, Jacqueline (Roy) Nunnenkamp of Henderson, NE, Teresa (Roger) Hofts of Hebron, Sandra (Larry) Volf of Broomfield, CO; son, Michael (Dawn) Dudgeon of Stromsburg; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, June Moriarty, Jene (Bob) Rasher, brother, Tony (Deb) Valek; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Valek and Verla Dudgeon; son-in-law, Terry Landenberger; many other relatives and friends.
